I woke up feeling great, slept SO well after my horrible night last night. Had my lemon water and was thinking "this is OK, I can do this!".
One hour later I had the herbal tea, peppermint tea, and it was yummy.
Then I threw 1/2 cup of mango, 1& 1/2 cups of coconut milk, and one scoop each of whey protein powder and pro-green powder. Put it in a travel mug and ran out the door with Ella on my hip a bag full of morning necessities, and my camera to bring Max to his LAST day of pre-school and Ella to her last day of music.
All was well until I was scheduled to drink the shake at 10am, at which time I was sitting in a crowded chapel with Ella bouncing around between my lap, my husbands lap, and my mother in laws lap. I chugged down the (nasty) shake (which gave me the chills) as fast as I could given the situation.
Then about 20 minutes into what was one of the best moments of my entire life, seeing Max up there on the stage with all of his friends singing songs and giving us goofy smiles... I began to feel - ILL-.
The feeling continued to get worse as the concert progressed, then Ella peed on my leg and I ended up chasing her around the back halls of the chapel while the concert ended. I could not take it anymore, I when to get Randy's attention and he took over! What a guy;) The nausea continued to get worse until I finally decided to eat something. I made the kids Bill Evan's Chicken Nuggets, ate a few, had a banana... and all was well.
I am sorry to report that I can not continue on this DETOX plan. It is not possible. But I feel like it definitely did some good for my body, I feel better- clearer. And I will just try to eat some things off of it (but not the protein shakes) and see how it goes.
I made the miso soup tonight for dinner and it was really really good.
Will see what I do tomorrow!

DETOX . day . one
The little ones got me up bright and early this morning (they have been doing this a lot recently) and I had to scramble to get in a shower, brush my teeth, and get dressed. I found myself dreaming of a nice hot cup of coffee and then I remembered what was happening today! A hectic way to start the first day of my detox plan, but it is perfect actually. If you wait for the perfect moment you know, you may be waiting a long long time;)...
DAY ONE:
6pm (dinner): Broccoli and Arugula Soup:
The soup was good, but somebody shoot me... my head is really banging and I feel very queasy.
I think there is a good chance that this was a one day detox;)

DAY ONE:
7am (or upon rising): Glass of room temperature lemon water:
The lemon water was a close second to my coffee, actually. It tasted good and between all the running around I was doing this morning I did not notice much of a difference, honestly! For today it was ok, but we will see how I fare as the days go on.
8am: Herbal tea:
Yum.
10am (breakfast): Blueberry and Almond Smoothie:
The smoothie was good, and it could not have come at a better time. I was really getting hungry! It was actually quite filling. For now;)
11:30am: Coconut water *without added sugar*:
This was also a nice treat, sort of sweet tasting in a natural sort of way... and it came at a time when I really wanted something else to eat!1:30pm (lunch): Salad with Carrot and Ginger Dressing:
I really liked this dressing, but for use on a normal day I would cut way back on the shallots. I love onion, but the dressing was really strong I am have decided that the shallot was the culprit.
The salad also had a lot of onion (1/4 of a red onion) which was a lot for me.
My eyes are watering now while I write this! But I am not going to mess with the program, and I would like to add that my nose ran and my eyes watered which signals some sort of detox, right? I don't know! But that is what the fine print told me to do, so there it is.
4pm (snack): A handful of mixed pumpkin and sunflower seeds:
This is when the headache kicked in!

DETOX . balance . life
So, as some of you may have noticed I have been m.i.a. for a while... Things can get hectic sometimes and it seems like the past two months of my life in relation to my blog and 41park has been hanging on by a tiny thread. The intention of this blog is to tag along the life of "me", and 41park, and the life of a stay at home mother of two tiny ones. All it takes is one sick child or one overworking husband and suddenly the hour a day I had to dedicate to my creative pursuits vanishes.
Poof. And I find myself here, in a constant state (at varying degrees) of exhausted over stressed hyper speed as I try to get everything taken care of every day. I know there has to be a better way to do this whole 'life' thing, and find my happy place;) My kids will thank me, and my husband will too.
I invite you to follow along with me while I do a 7 day detox program. I intend to kick start what I hope to be a series of subtle changes which are intended to bring my mind and body into a better state of balance. Nothing fancy, nothing too extreme (I say this now before I am struggling not to eat everything in site). The program is from Gwyneth Paltrow's blog GOOP, the detox program is using theory from her detox specialist, Dr. Alejandro Junger.

This is the plan, lets hope I can stick to it. -liza
